Cost of Living:
Shops & Banks:
The course was harder than expected but still manageable. It is quite heavily time-tabled with lots of early mornings and do not expect many days off! You are continually assessed so there are lots of exams and assignments throughout the year. (However you only need 40% to pass and the first year does not actually count!). It is well taught with fantastic facilities and the content is interesting and varied. It is a very sociable course, all Biomeds are put together for the first year.
The university is very friendly. The big campus is in a very nice setting and only a ten minute walk from the city centre. The union is one of the best with 3 clubs, 2 bars and several shops. There are great nights out there too, with weekly nights and special gigs on.
You need to choose carefully when applying for accommodation, the most expensive are not necessarily the best or the most sociable! The best places to live are in Headingly as there is everything a student could possibly need including shops, pubs, restaurants, a cinema and banks. The ones on campus are generally not as good. In the second year most people live in shared houses in Headingly or Hyde Park.
Overall Leeds has a fantastic night-life, the best outside of London. There is something for everyone and it is quite cheap on student nights. It is brilliant for shopping too!
