This is a fabulous university in a wonderful location. It is small enough to be very personal, but big enough to offer its students a challenging environment and a great social life. Facilities on site are great and lecturers are approachable and friendly. Plymouth offers a huge selection of clubs, bars, bands and leisure facilities. Top tip: fab beaches are close by, you can sail in the South Hams and surf in Cornwall. Perfect.
The accomodation on site is very good and the University has worked hard to upgrade this, with a top range of excellent facilities. Sports students are very well catered for as Marjon boasts a wide range of state of the art sporting facilities. For those who enjoy team sports, Marjon's hockey, football and rugby teams are powerful opponents and afford many students an active and healthy social life.
The JCR bar acts as the hub of the college. You can enjoy a wide range of beers in the SU bar and a good range of food is served in the cafe. There is also a very good range of shops on site catering for all tastes and providing a wide range of goods. The College has a very active Student Union, providing a wide range of amenities. It also organises lots of events and supports the many social clubs in the college.
You can't read a review of Marjon without considering its location. It really is beautifully situated and from its position at the foot of Dartmoor, you can look down from the campus, across the city to Plymouth Sound. Although the College is well served by public transport, Marjon is really at its best if you have a car. Then you can really take advantage of its setting. Take yourself on to the moors and try to find The Elephant's Nest. You'll love it. Or head towards Kingsbridge and Salcombe for some of the country's most beautiful beaches.
Lastly, Marjon's is also a Church college. History fact: it is one of the oldest teaching colleges in the UK and was originally based in Chelsea until the mid 70's. Religion is not heavy at the College, but what its connection does give it is a very freindly and supportive ethos.
