Summary: This is the best course at the uni no wonder in top 3 for this course!
Stafford has a very good teacher training course.
The staff are passionate about their job and have the subject knowledge needed to make you come away from their lectures with a smile feeling you have grown as a person in that one or two hour block.
The university is just below Oxford and Cambridge for their teacher training courses (don't let them lead you to believe they are the third uni in general it is only for the teacher training course!)
The lecturers for this course are brilliant and reply to any questions quickly with prompt answers and they do not fob you off as I have heard other course lectures do. Even the admin staff are useful and they seem to know what they are talking about.
Here's a bit about the uni itself:
Excellent for first years the campus is safe and well kept and the facilities are top notch. Stafford court is an excellent place to live although as with all flats be forewarned of the 2 am fire alarms that people tend to start. Each corridor has its own kitchen and ensuites have excellent bathrooms.
There is a launderette in the center of the courts which has washers and driers and they are reasonably priced. The maintenence for the courts is very good and there is always someone to help if you get locked out. There is an intercom system at each 'house' door and a phone in each room which allows you to call your friends in other parts of the court for free.
If you can afford it get your name down early for an ensuite they are woth the extra money and you have no bills to pay.
Unfortunately due to limited places second and third years have to find a new place to stay. The houses are nearby but be warned not every landlord is good! Go through the uni search to find a house.
Cost of Living
Excellent for students and I have been able to live here and not work at all whilst at uni which I feel is good so you can get your work done and still have a social life
The university is on the other side of town from the train station but there is a good bus service and it is a nice 45 ish min walk.
TRAIN STATION - TOWN/TESCO - ASDA - MOST STUDENT HOUSE/PUBS & EXCELLENT CHIPPY - UNI
If you like walking, the countryside is nearby. It is a beautiful place and should certainly take a look!
Easy access to stoke (£2 on the baker bus) and Birmingham. The town is good for basic shopping but does not have much more then a regular town in the shape of banks and shops although good take aways.
Good resource near the uni and if they do not have the book they will see if the other uni campus libraries have it. Good e-resources and excellent online renewal system so you dont have to go back to uni for one thing.
The library and the octagon have a good spread of computers and spaces for your laptop. If you have any problems the IT staff are helpful. Lots of printers (black and white and colour) plus scanners, photocopiers and laminators!
Don't hear much from them but I have never had a problem that needs me to contact them although I have heard some negative feedback from them.
Good food in the uni resturants!
Not a lot to shout about although get on a bus to Handley and you can have a good night out. Not too expensive.
Stafford lovely place to be, good course, and reasonably priced. Be warned I have heard not all courses are good!
